Students of the Patrick McGrath Academy learn traditional Irish step dancing for both competition and performance, both styles were heavily influenced by the infamous productions of "Riverdance" by Jean Butler and "Lord of the Dance" by Michael Flatley, both amazing competitors themselves. Children, Teens and Adults will develop rhythm, speed, and poise while learning a dance form rich with heritage and energy. The Irish do many things well and Irish dance is no exception, it is a an experience that will remain in your heart always.

"My goal is to promote traditional Irish dancing in Northern Virginia. I was born and raised here and I'd like to ensure Irish dance is preserved correctly, just as my mother had. Teaching something as unique and steeped in tradition as Irish dance is a privilege and to see those students on stage, enjoying themselves, winning... it's just a fantastic feeling and an opportunity I'm thankful for."
